Shizuko Horie was born on December
10, 1914 in Seattle, Washington. She had married Kazuto Jimmy Goishi and after
the signing of Executive Order 9066, the Goishi family voluntarily moved from
Pacoima, California (Military Zone 1) and went to Reedley which was in Military
Zone 2. Unfortunately, Shizuko, James Tamotsu, and Frank Hideo
Goishi were evacuated from Reedley and on August 7, 1942 were incarcerated at the Poston Arizona camp 3 block
326-11-C. In January of 1943, baby Dean Mitsuaki Goishi was born at Poston. Her
husband, Kazuto Jimmy Kazuto left Poston on September 9, 1945 and went to Santa Fe,
New Mexico Department of Justice internment camp. Shizuko took her children with her and left Poston
on November 18, 1945 and went to live at the Crystal City, Texas Department of
Justice family internment camp.
Shizuko died on April 15, 2011 in Fresno at the age of 96. She is survived
by her sons, James Goishi of Reedley, Frank H. Goishi of Fresno and Dean Goishi
of Los Angeles.
