YOSHIYAMA, FUMIE DAISY (1915-2009)


      Fumie Daisy (Poston 215-14-E) was born on May 16, 1915, and lived in Salinas where her father ran a fish market. 
     Following her marriage to Robert Sakari Yoshiyama, Daisy and her family were forced to evacuate to the Salinas Assembly Center.  After a few months, they were relocated and arrived to the Poston, Arizona concentration camp 2 in Arizona on July 5, 1942. After  leaving Poston, Arizona on September 5, 1945, they went to Parlier in Fresno County, briefly before residing in Seaside.
      Daisy was an active member of the Monterey Peninsula Buddhist Temple. She loved to crochet and knit and was a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed picking up her friends for Tuesday night Bingo games at the Oldemeyer Center. Daisy Yoshiyama died on November 7, 2009 in Monterey. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death in 1972.
     She is survived by son, Leonard, of Seaside; her grandchildren, Lynn and Corey.
