KUNISHIGE, MIYOKO (ABE)


      Miyoko (Abe) Kunishige (Poston 318-6-B) was born to Katsuji Abe and Ito Kimura on June 13, 1933 in Reedley, California. She attended Reedley schools until the family was evacuated to the Poston, Arizona concentration camp 3 on August 6, 1942.
    On July 23, 1945, the Abe family left Poston, Arizona and returned to Reedley.  Miyoko was 12 years old and continued her education in high school and graduated from Reedley College majoring in Home Economics.  She worked in textiles.  
     She married Masato Kunishige and worked for the family farm. In her later years, she worked for various packing sheds in Reedley. 
     Miyoko Kunishige passed away on March 3, 2015 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cindy Kunishige.
     She is survived by her husband, Masato Kunishige, daughters Jill Kunishige of San Jose, April (Randy) Collin of Reedley and 5 grandchildren; Bryce, Keila, and Tyler Collin; Erich and Allison Lund; brother, Joe (Hisa) Abe of San Diego; sister Helen (Sam) Hara of Dinuba; sister- in laws Sadie Abe, Nancy Abe, Shiz Kunishige of Reedley, and Dora Kunishige of Los Angeles.
