Minoru "Min" Maruyama (Poston 316-9-D)
was born on February 25, 1925 in Visalia, California to Japanese immigrant
parents, Hikojiro and Tsugi Maruyama.
After the signing of Executive Order 9066, Min was evacuated from Visalia, with his parents, and sister, Mitsuko, and brother,
Frank to the Poston, Arizona concentration camp III on August 6, 1942. Min was inducted into the Army on May 17,
1944 at Fort Douglas, Utah and served in Germany. His brother,
Frank was inducted into the Army a few months later in October 6, 1944 at Fort
Douglas, Utah. The rest of the Maruyama family returned to
Visalia on August 4, 1945.
After the end of World War II, Min worked for the US Post Office and
retired in Los Angeles, California. He
died at the age of 82 years in Campbell, California on February 20, 2008. He was predeceased by his brothers: James
Yamaguchi, Tameki Matsubara and Kazuma Maruyama.
Minoru Maruyama is survived by his sister Mitsuko Ezaki; brother, Frank
Maruyama; and the Engel Family of Southern California.
