Peggy Sumiko Kubota (Poston 2-11-A) was born on July 20, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Nisei parents, Tetsuo Fred Kubota, born in 1910 in Riverside, and Naoko (Matsubara) Kubota, born in 1918 in Los Angeles.
In the spring of 1942, Peggy and her parents, were evacuated from Los Angeles to the Turlock Assembly Center. While detained at the Turlock Assembly Center, her sister, Naomi Mildred was born. The Kubota family was transported to the Gila River, Arizona internment camp, and later transferred on October 9, 1942, to the Poston, Arizona internment camp block 2-11-A . Her father, Tetsuo Kubota obtained outside employment in Chicago and left Poston on May 24, 1944. The rest of the Kubota family left Poston, Arizona and joined him in Chicago on October 17, 1944.
After the war, the family returned to southern California, where Peggy attended the Evergreen Baptist Church in Los Angeles with her mother, and later attended college.

In 1962, Peggy married Paul K. Masuzumi, and they raised three children and attended the Gardena Valley Baptist Church. In 1976, Peggy and Paul received the Gardena-Carson YMCA Golden Triangle Award given to YMCA volunteers. Peggy died on December 23, 2010 in Gardena, California. She was preceded in death by her father, Tetsuo Fred (1999); mother, Naoko Kubota. (1992)
She is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Glenn (Ana); and daughters, Janice Masuzumi-Macaraeg, and Sharon (Paul) Sawai; and sisters, Mildred Castro, and Kathleen (Steve) Kubota-Fox.
